On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, KidsKonnectUkraine’s Mick Reed led a powerful mobile journalism training with students from Khmelnytskyi’s Lyceum No. 1—many of whom are children of Ukraine’s defenders and war veterans.
The workshop provided more than just technical skills. It offered these students a platform to begin shaping and sharing their own narratives in a time when their voices matter more than ever. Through hands-on guidance, they explored how to capture compelling visuals, conduct meaningful interviews, and build stories with authenticity and purpose.
The day didn’t end in the classroom. They continued the workshop with a field trip to the historic Medzhybizh Fortress. There, students put their new skills to the test—filming interviews, gathering B-roll, and learning how to use their surroundings to enhance visual storytelling. Against the backdrop of centuries-old stone and stories of resilience, their work took on an even deeper significance.
Workshops like this are a reminder that the next generation is not just watching history unfold—they’re documenting it, shaping it, and finding their voice within it. We’re honored to support them in that journey.
